Layout & Course

Tasmania Golf Club is a must-play destination for all golfers.

The course is 6,214 metres in length with a par of 72 (ACR 72.9) for men and 74 for women (AWCR 74) but can play far longer depending on the weather.

The course could best be described as a typical Australian golf course set on a spectacular headland that exposes the golf course to the best and worst of the elements.  The result is a challenging, undulating course characterised by well bunkered, breaking greens that rewards well thought out approach shots.

Tasmania Golf Club is not a golf course that can be dominated by modern equipment. Sure, big hitters will enjoy the course but they can find themselves in big trouble if they stray off-line.

Many of the members, the people who know the course best, will tell you that Tasmania Golf Club is one of the best places on Earth. The golf course satisfies the soul, even if it sometimes frustrates you. It rewards those with a thirst for adventure even as it appears maddeningly simple. You will struggle to find anyone who has performed well at Tasmania Golf Club who does not take immense pride in their achievement.

The greens at Tasmania Golf Club are large, with big slopes and a true roll. Depending on the wind and the pin placement there can be a 3 or 4 club difference from front to back.  Remember, there’s no room for ego when choosing the right club for your approach.

The signature hole is the 3rd; a 528 metre par 5 that follows the natural curve of Barilla Bay and has long been regarded as one of Australia’s most spectacular holes. This memorable experience demands a strong drive, well planned second and perfect approach to a well guarded green.

Perhaps the best indicator of the strength of the course design is that each hole is unique and, as such, highly memorable.  No-one would ever describe a round of golf at Tasmania Golf Club as mundane.

The Tasmania Golf Club course is open for play all year round and is at it’s best in the late spring and autumn when the local climate is well suited to a challenging day’s golf.
